Our sense of smell, like our other senses, have a way of helping us remember things, places, people and so on. Our understanding of smell can take us back in time, to when we were young, and our mums were baking that pie that made our mouths water. It could take us back to the place of first love or a time of heartache. Whatever the scenario, our sense of smell is impressive.

So how does smelling help with healing? Let me paint you a picture. Imagine you are at the spa, your masseuse is working all the kinks out of your body, using Lavender oil. You are instantly transported into the realm of pure bliss and peace.
When you walk past anyone a couple of days later who has Lavender on, you are right back to that place of peace and joy. It’s powerful! That is how smells help us heal; by evoking a sense of comfort, strength, peace that will carry us through our rough times.
What is Aromatherapy?
Aromatherapy means smell therapy; our sense of smell is quite beneficial to us regarding our emotions. It is a channel that opens up different pathways in our brains that brings about different emotional responses. Essential oils can help by promoting well being, and they also allow us to manage our emotions.

There are different oils from different plants and parts of plants that help us deal better with our emotions. Oils from the flora family have a calming effect on us. Essential Oils that come from trees, grass or herbs give us a sense of renewal. Essential Oils from spices give us a warming result, and Essential Oils from the Citrus and Mint family are good for uplifting and energizing us.
